A different approach

The body is not immobile but continually oscillates according to special and complex rhythms in order to maintain its equilibrium. The mechanism, which provides and regulates postural activity, is involuntary and utilizes sensory-motor systems at a variety of levels (joints, spine, brain). Postural reflexes hold a permanent contraction against gravity.

It involves a set of reflex activities that receive information from different receptors.

In addition, postural tone is provided by nerve circuits that use proprioceptive afferences coming from various receptors. The proprioceptive afferences make up a true network of information coming from all over the body. The centres, which control posture, use the multi-sensory signals to determine postural strategies for each situation. The proprioceptors notify the central nervous system of the relative position of one part of the body with respect to another.

Only the feet have the added function of orienteering our body with the force of gravity. It is the reason behind saying that all man's kinetic function begins with the feet.

Co-ordination, precision, execution speed, power and efficiency all depend on modulating foot actions by means of muscular contractions.

An orthotic footbed will not only give you the necessary comfort but also will enhance the body alignment by transmiting more and better information to the balance control centres, allowing you to have a better posture.

The assessment

"Based on correlating several analysis".

To understand and assess your problem, Foot Factor proceeds with a comprehensive consultation to gather the necessary information.

Biomechanical, Video gait and Postural analysis

Static and dynamic digital force platform analysis

The platform can be used in a static or dynamic mode. Static: It's a reflection of the body postural equilibrium and of the musculo-skeletal tensions in place.

Dynamic: such analysis will deliver valuable information to determine the biomechanics of the lower limb:

• Deceleration, acceleration of the gait

• Force movements and torques applied to the lower limb (knees, hips) in the frontal and sagittal plane

The Consultation

90 minutes

• It takes just 90 minutes for Foot Factor to undertake a full postural and gait analysis, to assess and address your problem

• In order to define the roots of the problem several factors will be taken into account.

For more detailed information about the consultation process, please scroll down the page further to see the procedures involved.

What happens during the Consultation

Posture Analysis

Your posture will be evaluated and any chronic problems such as frequent muscle tear, muscle aches, groin, joint, lower back, sacro iliac, tension headaches etc will be analysed.

Mobility evaluation

This part of the assessment will help us decide whether we should stimulate, inhibit or support different parts of the foot and how much pressure we can apply and still respect your foot structure to provide a comfortable orthotic.

Static analysis

Mechanical alignment and pressure distribution will be visualised and correlated.
Different morphologies = different biomechanical and postural disorders

Gait analysis

Gait analysis is undertaken with the benefit of a video camcorder and state-of-the-art computer analysis enabling us to see you in action and analyse and cross-reference with your gait, static and mobility analysis.
Conventional visual observation cannot pick up some light gait problems.
