Foot Factor is a medical sports unit, specialising in feet and foot related injuries, and the making of appliances called orthotic footbeds. This speciality is known as podiatry.
A podiatrist is a foot physician whose scope of practice includes the diagnosis and treatment of gait dysfunction, posture disorders and sports injuries and who often works together with other experts and specialists such as GPs, physiotherapists, osteopaths, chiropractors, orthopaedic surgeons etc.
An orthotic can be used to improve your balance and posture to treat musculo-skeletal problems, ranging from tight hamstrings to lower back, upper back aches and tension headaches.
A lot of the stress your body has to put up with daily is due to poor posture. The feet are one of the three main ways the brain collects postural information, with the eyes and your ear drums. Ignore any of these three and your balance or equilibrium will be affected creating musculo-skeletal tensions. These tensions result in muscles pains, tendonitis, feet, knees, hips, back pains with no X-ray or MRI explanation.
Foot Factor is not just another podiatry unit. The imported technology is unique in the UK and allows a thermomoulded custom orthotics to be produced while the patient waits (as opposed to the traditional plaster cast technique which takes at least two weeks).
Foot Factors advanced technology allows the assessment and immediate treatment of many problems, such as daily walking discomfort, postural disorder leading to muscle tension and skeletal problems, and specific sports injuries.
